COLUMBUS, Ohio–Lauren Price, a 2000 graduate of the University of Wisconsin, has been hired as an assistant athletics communications director, Steve Snapp, assistant athletics director for communications, announced Wednesday.

Price replaces Elizabeth Cook, who moved from the Ohio State Department of Athletics to the Ohio State University Relations Office.

Price will work with the Ohio State women’s basketball and softball teams and several other Olympic sports. She will begin her tenure at Ohio State May 1.

“Lauren is a sensational addition to our staff,” Snapp said. “She impressed us all with her organizational skills, her knowledge of the job, her eagerness and work ethic and her ability to relate to people.”

As a student at Wisconsin, Price worked with several Olympic sports and assisted with football, basketball and hockey home events.

After graduation, Price, a native of Oklahoma City, Okla., moved to Salt Lake City to work as a press operations assistant during several test events in preparation for the 2002 Winter Olympic Games,

Following a year-long internship with the Salt Lake Organizing Committee, Price as hired full time as a venue press services coordinator.

She planned the facilities and services for 1,600 media members a the 2002 Winter Olympic Opening and Closing Ceremonies and for media at the Olympic Medals Plaza, site of the nightly Olympic medals presentations.

With a degree from Wisconsin and a brother, Jay, working as an assistant men’s basketball coach at Purdue, Price is anxious to get started in Columbus.

“I am excited to be a part of an athletics department with the traditions of Ohio State,” Price said. “I look forward to becoming a Buckeye and returning to the Big Ten Conference.”
