Thad Matta, Ohio State head coach
On the game
“I thought our guys came out with more intensity. We knew Green-Bay was a good basketball team from watching them on tape. We did a good job taking care of the basketball and moving the ball. We are not where we need to be yet and I’m curious to see how we’ll come back tomorrow.”

On Jamar Butler
“He was focused on what he needed to do. His reads were good, like Lighty. We’ve been working on having feet set and ready to move. A 10-0 assist/turnover ratio … we’ll take that.”

On the Ohio State post players
“Othello Hunter was very active tonight. I also though that Matt Terwilliger did a good job coming in off the bench and provided a lot of energy.”

On freshman Kosta Koufos
“He did a good job getting lift on his shots. He struggled a little bit early on but he worked his way though it. He got to the point where you forgot it was his first college basketball game.”

Jamar Butler, senior point guard
On the zone defense they employed against Green Bay
“We haven’t worked on it this week. Coach made a gametime decision and decided we were going to go into a zone tonight. We played it hard and made it work.”

On the difference between this game and the Findlay game
“When we looked at the film (of the Findley game), we didn’t have five guys playing defense. We would have three or four guys playing but one or two guys weren’t doing it. It was a wakeup call for us, and we gave a good effort tonight.”

On the difference between the current team and last season’s team
“They are different teams with a lot of different faces. This was the first college game for a lot of these guys and they showed what they can do. Last year is behind us and we have our own identity.”

David Lighty, sophomore guard
On his scoring opportunities
“Tonight I was able to do some scoring for us. Next game we might have another guy who will step up and put up 20 or 30 points. It’s just a matter of getting to the basket and getting some good looks.”

Othello Hunter, senior forward
On the injury he sustained during the second half
“It’s just a little cramp. It hurts a little bit but I’ll be ok. I’m more concerned with looking at the game tape and seeing what we can do to get better.”

Tod Kowalczyk, Wisconsin-Green Bay head coach
On the game
“They came ready to play. I have a lot of respect for Ohio State and Thad Matta. Lets face it they really shot the ball well tonight.”

On Ohio State freshman, Kosta Koufos
“He is quick and fast and very smart. If there is a better freshmen post guy in the country I would like to see him.”

On Wisconsin-Green Bay
“We did not do a good job of moving the zone around. They did not play one minute of man to man tonight. They (Ohio State) were locked in.”

On the game
“I’m disappointed by the loss. We ran into a good team that played very well. We have three freshmen and this team will get better”
