Thad Matta, Ohio State Head Men’s Basketball Coach
On Ohio State’s defense
“I thought we were able to get going off of our defense. I was pleased with our effort on defense tonight. We had some guys doing things well in spots during the game, but we need to be doing them for the entire game.”

On Ohio State’s young players
“If you look at their roster our guys have played against most of their guys. A lot of our freshman played against them in AAU.”

On his team facing No. 2 North Carolina Wednesday
“I would feel better if Greg (Oden) was healthy, but our guys know this is a unique opportunity. We will go down and play and see where we are after that. They (North Carolina) are going to pose some problems we haven’t seen before. We will definitely have some teachable moments.”

Ron Lewis, senior guard
On Ohio State’s chemistry
“We’re not selfish. Everyone looks to everybody. We know who to go to on the offensive end when they have a hot hand and get a better feel who to get the ball to.”

On the Ohio State’s physical toughness
“I think we can play any way. Our team is built for any type of basketball, so we are ready for anything.”

On playing North Carolina
“I’m curious to see how we play. We will get a better feel at practice tomorrow. They are a great caliber team. It’s a big step for us and we will really get a feel for what type of team we are.”

Daequan Cook, freshman guard
On playing North Carolina
“It’s one of those games we’ve been looking forward to. It comes down to hard work. As long as we work hard, we’ll come out successful.”

Matt Terwilliger, junior center
On his 3-point basket
“It’s something I worked on all summer – to transition out on the floor.”

On senior forward Ivan Harris’ game
“He’s doing a really good job. He’s studying film and is finding his spots on the floor.”

Jerry Slocum, Youngstown State head coach
On the game
“We obviously had a tough time taking care of the basketball tonight. Ohio State shoots the ball so well and spreads the floor. They are tremendous offensively.”
