Recap| Box Score| Notes

Hampton Head Coach Bobby Collins
On the game
“We played well enough to win the game. If you look at the box score, we outrebounded them 32-24. But they kept making big plays down the stretch. It came down to a possession game at the end. Ohio State executed to win the game.”

On Ohio State’s Emonte Jernigan’s open lay-up at the end of the game
“I told my team to make sure (Ohio State) caught the ball in the backcourt. It was a miscommunication and (Ohio State) got the easy bucket.”

On changes from the first half to the second half
“I’ve been getting on my team about the first team not starting the game strong. We’ve been timid and not aggressive to begin the game. Tonight, we wanted to get the ball inside and use our post players. Our post players played very well. I told out perimeter players that I thought they did not get enough touches down the stretch.”

Hampton’s Devin Green
On playing in his hometown
“Hats off to (Ohio State) because we played so hard and they executed down the stretch and got the win. We’ve got to put it behind us and get on down the road.”

Hampton’s Isaac Jefferson
On playing in his hometown
“It was sort of a homecoming for me since it is my senior year. The made the plays down the stretch and were mentally a tougher team than us tonight.”

Ohio State guard Brent Darby
On the close game
“They are a tough team. They are going to definitely be in the tournament in March.” On Ohio State in the second half
“We knew we had to turn it up and really push it (in the second half). I tried to take my time and get good shots.”

Ohio State guard Sean Connolly
On his late 3-point shot
“I really didn’t get into a good routine. If I had a shot I was going to take it and try to make them good. I will always step it up if I need too.”

Ohio State forward Zach Williams
On the second half
“At halftime we looked at the stats and I had only taken two shots, so coach said that we needed to get the ball and take the shots (inside).”

On Hampton
“I think they really held their composure in the second half.”

Ohio State center Velimir Radinovic
On Hampton’s defense
“I think they were focused on Zach and they lost track of me. Then I got my chance to make something.”

On Ohio State
“Everyone was focused and everyone stepped up to make the shots.”

Ohio State head coach Jim O’Brien
“First of all, we are delighted to have beaten a very good team in Hampton tonight. With the exception of our three losses that is the best team we have played this season. I cannot imagine that team not going through their conference and advancing to the NCAA Tournament. That is nearly the same team that knocked off North Carolina last season. This was a very good win tonight.”

On Ohio State’s clutch play in the second half
“We stepped up as a team and made the plays when we needed to make them in the second half. We changed defenses and made them rush some shots. I think our change in defenses over the course of the second half helped get them off rhythm on the offensive end.”

On the clutch shooting of Ohio State guard Sean Connolly
“We have all the confidence in Sean’s shooting ability. He struggled with his shot tonight, but made a big shot when we needed it. He made a great read on the play and knocked down a big basket.”

On Ohio State’s improved inside play in the second half
“We went down low in the second half and tried to pound it at them. I was not pleased with our inside production in the first half and we talked about that at half time. I think our shooting percentage in the second half shows that we improved upon the first half in getting the ball down low.”
