Ohio State coach Beth Burns
“Without question, the difference in the game was that we were able to limit their shots. They came in averaging 76 points a game. Our goal was to hold them under 60. We knew it would take a lot of effort.
“You can see D’wan Shackleford’s heart extends beyond her sleeve. Hopefully, that becomes contagious.
“I think DiDi (Reynolds) really kept us in the game in the first half. I know she’s frustrated with her turnovers (nine). I just felt I couldn’t take her out. We got into some early foul trouble. I think DiDi and D’wan really did the things they needed to do. The bottom line is we stepped up and got a win.”
Junior forward D’wan Shackleford
“We were able to put a lot of pressure on them with our press and that really shortened their shot clock. They couldn’t set their plays and we did a good job defensively.”
Junior forward DiDi Reynolds
“I went to practice early Friday to shoot around because I didn’t shoot well (on Thursday against UC-Santa Barbara). Once you hit the first shot you forget about everything and my shots were falling in the first half.”
Senior guard Tomeka Brown
(On another team injury)
“You have to be positive because thinking negatively puts more pressure on the team. We have to each get better individually and then work together as a team.”
