San Jose State University Notes
In the first half, San Jose State was on Ohio State’s side ofthe field on its six possessions. The Spartans missed a 36-yardfield goal, failed to get first downs on the Ohio State 46 and 32yard lines, respectively, and fumbled twice inside the Buckeyes’30-yard line. Regular defensive starters for San Jose State,linebacker Brian Foreman and safety Gerald Jones did not play inthe first half for the Spartans. Both players entered the OhioState game with nagging injuries, but did dress for the game. LamarFerguson’s 35-yard pass reception that helped set up the Spartans’first touchdown was his longest pass reception of his San JoseState career. Nick Gilliam missed a 36-yard field goal, his firstmiss in six attempts. The last time he missed a field goal try wasin the first half of the Washington game on September 7. FreshmanTrestin George played tailback in the first quarter and cornerbackthe remainder of the game. He has played both ways in a gameagainst Illinois, UTEP and Ohio State. Quarterback Scott Rislov (36of 44 for 265 yards) set two San Jose State single-game records inthe Ohio State game.
