COLUMBUS, Ohio – With five consecutive wins, Chase Buchanan and Blaz Rola, members of the Ohio State men’s tennis team, captured the doubles title at the 2011 D’Novo/ITA All-American Championships Sunday at the Michael D. Case Tennis Center in Tulsa, Okla.

Buchanan and Rola became the first Buckeye tandem to win at the prestigious event since Scott Green and Ross Wilson won the doubles championship in 2004. The third-seeded duo in the tournament, Buchanan and Rola defeated No. 1 seed Kevin King and Juan Spir of Georgia 6-3, 6-7 (5), 6-4 in the final.

Buckeyes Devin McCarthy and Ille Van Engelen advanced to the consolation doubles final, but dropped an 8-5 decision to California’s Nick Andrews and Chris Konigsfeldt.

Up next, the Buckeyes will host the 2011 USTA/ITA Midwest Regional Thursday through Monday at the Varsity Tennis Center and Jesse Owens West Recreation Center.
