COLUMBUS, Ohio – Parker Siegfried, a redshirt sophomore goalkeeper on the Ohio State men’s soccer team, was named Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week, the conference office announced Tuesday. Siegfried, from Granville, Ohio, earns his second weekly honor of the season and third of his career.
Siegfried made a career-high 10 saves in the 1-0 loss against No. 2 Maryland last Friday in Columbus. He kept the Terrapins off the board for more than 80 minutes, making two penalty stops in the second half. Siegfried is 7-3-1 overall and has a goals-against average of 0.75. He is ranked sixth in the country with seven shutouts this fall.
The No. 17 Buckeyes continue their non-conference schedule with a road match at Oakland at 7 p.m. Tuesday in Rochester, Mich. The match will be streamed on ESPN3.
