COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State women’s golf team is tied for second with Michigan State following the first two rounds of the 2006 Big Ten Women’s Golf Championships in Bloomington, Ind. The Buckeyes were 14-over 590 (293-297–590) on the par-72, 6,142-yards Indiana University Championship Golf Course.

Purdue tops the standings with 586, four strokes ahead of Ohio State. The Buckeyes and Spartans are two shots in front of Indiana at 592.

Jennifer Selfinger (Sr., Columbus, Ohio/Groveport Madison) and Carling Coffing (So., Middletown, Ohio/Middletown) tied for fifth with 146. Selfinger had two eagles during the opening 18 holes, recording two strokes on the par-4 No. 6 and No. 16 holes. She finished the round even par and was 2-over in her second round.

Coffing was even at 72 during the opening round and 2-over during the second round. Dana Je (Jr., Orlando, Fla./Montverde Academy) is 14th at 75-74–149.

Northwestern’s Alice Kim fired the best round of the day at 4-under 68 and sits atop the leaderboard at 140. Elaine Harris of Indiana is second with 141.

The tournament resumes tomorrow at 9 a.m. with the third of four rounds.
