COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State women’s track and field team will be represented in nine different events by a total of 12 athletes at the 2014 NCAA East Preliminary Championship this Thursday-Saturday, May 29-31, in Jacksonville, Fla. The competition is hosted at Hodges Stadium by the University of North Florida.
The Buckeyes are led by senior Ashlee Abraham, who will be competing in three separate events over the weekend including the 100-meter and 200-meter dashes, as well as the 4×100-meter relay along with sophomore Aliyah Everson, freshman Aaliyah Barnes and senior Adenike Pedro.
Barnes and Everson are also competing in separate individual events, the 200-meter dash and 400-meter run, respectively. Meanwhile sophomore Alexis Franklin is looking to advance in two individual events, the 100-meter hurdles and 400-meter hurdles, and junior Katie Borchers, the Big Ten’s outdoor champion in the 800-meter run, will attempt to add another highlight to her season in the event.

Franklin and Alexandria Johnson – 100-Meter Hurdles – 5:30 p.m. (Semifinals Saturday at 7:20 p.m.)

Last Time Out: 2014 B1G Outdoor Championships
Junior Katie Borchers and senior Ashlee Abraham captured individual Big Ten titles on the final day of the 2014 Big Ten Outdoor Championships at Rankin Track and Field in West Lafayette, Ind., helping the Ohio State women’s track and field team to an eighth-place team finish.
Borchers won the first Big Ten title of her career in the 800-meter run, besting her own school record in the process with a winning time of 2:05.17, a Top-25 performance in Division I this season and Rankin Track record.
Abraham, the reigning conference 60-meter champion, retained her title as the fastest woman in the Big Ten with a gold-medal performance in the 100-meter dash. Abraham crossed the finish line in a time of 11.51, edging defending Big Ten champion Mahagony Jones of Penn State for the second individual conference title of her career.
Qualifying athletes will travel to Eugene, Ore. for the 2014 NCAA Outdoor Championships taking place Wednesday-Saturday, June 11-14.
