POSTGAME QUOTES
Ohio State head coach John Markell
“I liked how we got stronger as the game went on. They took it to us in the first, but we made some adjustments and got stronger. Clarkson is a very good hockey club and their goalie played well tonight. It was their first game, so now we both get a day to think about things. We need to play three solid periods Sunday because we will face a better Clarkson team then. Hopefully we are improved as well.

“It helps us that we can roll out three sets of penalty killers. They did a good job of picking up and moving their feet, especially in the third period. We also rolled out four lines, which allows us to stay fresh mentally.”

Clarkson head coach Mark Morris
“I thought we played a really good first period. I realize they are blessed with some pretty talented players and we wanted to pressure their defensemen all night.

“We had too many penalties. It’s been a long couple of years in that department. We’ve been trying to avoid penalties at critical times.

“Give credit to Ohio State. They came out with a lot of tenacity but I thought we took it to them in the first. But, as soon as they scored their first goal they really got going. They’re a talented bunch. This is our first taste of defeat this year and it’s a little sour.”
