Columbus, Ohio – University of Iowa senior Crystal Smith hit a 10-foot jumper with just seconds remaining to lift the Big Ten Women’s Basketball Foreign Tour All-Stars past the Belgium National Team, 78-77, in Aalst, Belgium Saturday. The win improved the All-Stars’ Tour record to 4-0 with one game remaining Monday against Luxembourg in Brussels, Belgium.

Ohio State junior Stephanie Blanton contributed two points off the bench in the win. The junior from Lancaster, Ohio also grabbed one rebound.

The Big Ten squad held a 38-30 edge at halftime, but Belgium rallied to tie the game at 69 with less than four minutes to play in regulation. The Big Ten team inched out to a 76-72 lead with a minute to go, but Belgium put together a 5-0 run to claim a 77-76 lead with 14 seconds left before Smith knocked down the game-winning bucket. The Hawkeye guard led the team with 20 points and five assists.

The Big Ten is looking to complete its fourth-consecutive undefeated tour. The team has won 18 consecutive contests and has gone 50-18 (.735) since the inception of the Tour in 1992.

The All-Stars arrived in Brugge, Belgium Saturday and will spend Sunday in the city. The team will tour Luxembourg on Monday before the game and spend the night in Brussels. On Tuesday, the team will revisit Amsterdam for one more day and night before returning to the United States on Tuesday.
