COLUMBUS, Ohio – Shawn Sangrey has been named the Midwestern Intercollegiate Volleyball Association Offensive Player of the Week for the 13th-ranked (tied) Ohio State (7-4 overall, 4-0 MIVA) men’s volleyball team. He had match-highs of 21.5 points and 15 kills in the 3-0 (30-28, 34-32, 30-23) win at Ball State to keep OSU undefeated (4-0) in conference play. Sangrey hit .367 (15-4-30) and had a career-high three ace serves in the match. He had three digs and equaled his career high of two solo blocks against the Cardinals. Sangrey had five total blocks including three assists. With game one tied at 28, his kill for point 29 and a block with Kevin Heine won the game at 30-28. In the 34-32 game two, Sangrey hit .600 (7-1-10) and added two ace serves, a solo block and two assist blocks. In his last three matches, he has recorded double-figure points and kills and he is the team leader in points (4.50) and kills (3.62).
Ohio State continues conference play this week when the play at 15th-ranked Lewis (7-1, 2-0) Friday and at 12th-ranked Loyola-Chicago (6-0, 2-0) Saturday.
