COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohio State men’s hockey defenseman Sean Collins was named CCHA Defensive Player of the Week, the Central Collegiate Hockey Association announced Monday. It is the first player of the week honor for a Buckeye this season and the fifth CCHA weekly award for Collins in his career.

A senior captain from Troy, Mich., Collins scored his first two goals of the season and added an assist in Ohio State’s sweep at Bowling Green. He had a power play goal Friday in the 9-3 win and followed with a goal and assist in the 4-1 victory Saturday for his second multiple-point game of the season.

Collins completed the series with a plus-4 rating. This season, he is second on the squad in assists with seven and tied for second with nine points.

Collins also was a key member on the OSU penalty kill that was 18-for-20 on the weekend, including a perfect 7-for-7 mark Saturday.
