COLUMBUS, Ohio-The Ohio State men’s golf team is tied for eighth place after the first round of the 2002 Kepler Intercollegiate, presented by Cleveland Golf. Buckeye senior Scott Miller (Middletown, Ohio/Middletown) is the tournament individual leader with a career-low round of 68 (-3). He leads the field by three strokes heading into second round action Saturday.

UNLV is the team leader at 288 followed by Northwestern (289) and Purdue (293). The Buckeyes shot 299 in cool and windy conditions Friday.

The shot of the day was turned in by Texas A&M’s Tyler Garrett. He recorded a hole-in-one using an 8-iron on the 182-yard 13th hole.

The tournament will resume at 9 a.m. Saturday and will be completed Sunday on the OSU Scarlet Course (par 71, 7,229 yards).
