Columbus, Ohio – Alice Jamen, who completed her freshman season with the Ohio State women’s basketball team in 2004-05, will represent her home country of Cameroon May 1-7 in the qualifying rounds for the 2005 African Cup in Kinshasa, the capital city of the Democratic Republic of Congo. Cameroon is one of five women’s national teams vying for qualification to the African Cup and will compete against the Central African Republic, Chad, Congo and Gabon.

A native of Yaounde, Cameroon, Jamen left her hometown to attend high school at Mount de Chantal Visitation Academy in Wheeling, W. Va. She helped lead Mount de Chantal to undefeated seasons in 2001-02 and 2003-04. Individually, Jamen was a McDonald’s All-American nominee in 2003-04.

In her first season with the Buckeyes, Jamen saw action in 23 games. She pulled down a season-high eight rebounds in Ohio State’s first-round win over Holy Cross in the NCAA tournament.
