COLUMBUS, Ohio – Bryan Duby, a senior thrower on the Ohio State men’s track and field team, was named male Athlete of the Week by the Big Ten Tuesday. At the Big Blue Classic in Charleston, Ill. last week, Duby claimed the hammer throw title with a career-best heave of 201 feet, 2 inches. The award is the second in the outdoor season for the Ohio State throws team. Fellow senior Shelaine Larson claimed the women’s award March 29 after winning the hammer at the Florida Relays.

Duby claimed the league honor for the first time in his career after scoring his second hammer throw win in as many meets. Duby has topped the 200-foot mark in each of his two outdoor competitions. At the Florida Relays March 23, Duby heaved a 200-2 for his first winner of the season.

The Buckeyes open the outdoor home schedule at 3 p.m. Friday, April 15 with the All-Ohio Championships.
