COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State women’s volleyball team will face nine teams that participated in the 2004 NCAA Championship in the 2005 women’s volleyball schedule announced today by head coach Jim Stone. The schedule has OSU playing 15 home matches in St. John Arena including 10 Big Ten Conference contests, two tournaments and a season-opening match against Toledo on Aug. 27.

Home tournament action includes the Sports Imports Classic with the Buckeyes facing Nebraska, Sept. 2 and Long Beach State, Sept. 3. The second home tournament, the Buckeye Classic, has OSU facing Pittsburgh Sept. 16 and either Brigham Young or Duke Sept. 17. Other non-conference matches include a Sept. 6 match at Cleveland State and participating in the Bowling Green Tournament against East Carolina Sept. 9 and Chicago State and Bowling Green Sept. 10.

Ohio State opens Big Ten Conference action with four straight home matches at the end of September. The league schedule includes six teams that played in the 2004 NCAA Championship including Minnesota, Penn State, Wisconsin, Illinois, Michigan and Purdue. Other NCAA opponents include Nebraska, Pittsburgh and Long Beach State.
