COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State women’s ice hockey team announced its 2004-05 schedule Monday. OSU kicks off the season with a home series vs. Western Collegiate Hockey Association foe St. Cloud State Oct. 8-9 at the OSU Ice Rink.

This season the Buckeyes’ conference schedule increases from 24 games to 28, with the addition of North Dakota to the WCHA. OSU will play each team four times during the season, with a two-game road series and a two-game home series. Last season, Ohio State finished fourth in the WCHA with a 10-12-2 record, earning at least one point against each team in the conference. The road series vs. North Dakota will mark the first meeting between the Buckeyes and the Fighting Sioux.

In non-conference action, Ohio State will face teams from Hockey East, Ivy League and College Hockey America. OSU will play host to Hockey East opponent Northeastern Nov. 13-14. The Buckeyes will play host to Yale Jan. 14-15, marking only the second meeting between the teams and their first on the OSU campus. The Niagara Purple Eagles round out OSU’s non-conference schedule Feb. 18-19 in Niagara Falls, N.Y.

Postseason action begins with the sixth annual WCHA championship March 4-6 at Ridder Arena in Minneapolis, Minn. The University of New Hampshire will play host to the 2005 NCAA Championship March 25 and 27 at the Whittemore Center Arena.

Buckeye head coach Jackie Barto will guide the squad into its sixth season. Barto is 72-95-16 overall at Ohio State and 43-62-14 in the WCHA.
