COLUMBUS, Ohio – Seven members of Ohio State’s 2005-06 women’s gymnastics team received national academic honors from the National Association of Collegiate Gymnastics Coaches, announced this week. In addition, the Buckeyes received team academic honors for carrying a 3.1874 team grade point average.

Seven OSU gymnasts were honored for having at least a 3.5 GPA for the 2005-06 academic year. Emily Sineway (Norcross, Ga./Norcross), a senior on the 2005-06 team and earned a 4.0 GPA for the third-consecutive year, and Alyssa Meyer (Chesterfield, Mo./John F. Kennedy), a freshman last season was also honored for having a perfect 4.0 GPA, as well.

In addition to Sineway and Meyer, OSU honorees include Elizabeth Ahlberg (San Antonio, Texas/William H. Taft), Shelby Warner (Fenton, Mich./Hartland), Jessica Rosette (Green Cove, Fla./Episcopal), Julie Ahlberg (San Antonio, Texas/Earl Warren) and Megan Flood (Canonsburgh, Pa./Canon McMillan).

Ohio State was one of 27 teams around the country to have at least seven gymnasts earn individual academic honors. The Buckeyes were one of seven teams to have at least two gymnasts who earned a 4.0 GPA.

The Buckeyes also received team honors in 2004-05 and 2003-04 when they placed seven individuals each year on the NACGC’s list.
