SUNRIVER, Ore. – The eighth-ranked Ohio State women’s golf team tallied a score of 290 (+6) in the final round to tie for sixth place Friday at the 2005 NCAA Championships. The Buckeyes ended the four-round event with a total of 1,187. The tournament was held at the par 71 Meadows Course at Sunriver Resort (6,312 yards) in Sunriver, Ore.

The sixth-place finish marked the second-best performance in school history and the fourth consecutive year Ohio State has finished in the Top 10. The Buckeyes’ best finish at the NCAA championships was fourth in 2003.

Ohio State seniors Kristen White (Doylestown, Pa./Central Bucks East) and Lindsay Knowlton (Toronto, Ontario/Havergal) played in their final round as collegiate golfers. White shot 71 (E) in her last round and finished the tournament with a mark of 296, tying for 16th place. Knowlton posted a round of 74 (+3) on her final day in scarlet and gray. She ended with a score of 298 and tied for 34th place on the individual leaderboard.

Freshman Carling Coffing (Middletown, Ohio/Middletown) led the Buckeyes in the final round, firing a career-best 70 (-1). She tied for 74th place with a score of 305 after starting the day in a tie for 102nd. Teammate Dana Je (Orlando, Fla./Montverde Academy) tied for 16th place along with White, finishing with a score of 296, including 75 in the last round. Junior Jennifer Selfinger (Columbus, Ohio/Groveport Madison) tied for 92nd with a mark of 309.

Top-ranked Duke won the team championship, shooting 1,170. Duke sophomore Anna Grzebien also claimed medalist honors with a score of 286 (+2).

During the 2004-05 season, Ohio State claimed three tournament wins, had seven Top 5 finishes, and placed among the Top 10 in every event on the schedule.
