COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State University men’s volleyball team hosted a pair of exhibition matches against McMaster University over the weekend, recording 3-0 and 3-2 victories.
The Buckeyes opened with a sweep Friday night, 25-16, 25-17, 27-25, before pulling out a five-set fight on Saturday (25-20, 25-22, 18-25, 28-30, 15-10).
Ohio State’s offense attacked at a .319 clip for the weekend, paced by Shawn Herron and his .727 hitting efficiency. Driss Guessouss led the team with 22 kills, followed closely by 21 for Michael Henchy. Christy Blough handled the majority of the setting duties, dishing out 65 assists in six sets played. Marco Grasso ran the offense in the other two sets, assisting on 19 kills.
Service was a big advantage for the Buckeyes as well, blistering 19 aces compared to just nine for the Marauders.
Guessous put up 14 blocks (1.75/set), including six solo swats. Gabriel Domecus, the OSU libero, dug a team-high 18 balls to average 2.25 digs per set.
