COLUMBUS, Ohio – A pair of senior throwers on the Ohio State track and field team, Bryan Duby and Shelaine Larson, combined to sweep the men’s and women’s hammer throw events Friday at the Big Blue Classic at Eastern Illinois University’s O’Brien Stadium in Charleston, Ill.

Both Duby and Larson recorded career-best throws en route to winning the event. Larson, who reached 186 feet, five inches (186-5), led three Buckeyes in the Top 3 as fellow seniors Tiffany Davis and Katy Houser took second and third place, respectively. Davis measured 185-9 to take runner up, while Houser heaved a mark of 169-4. Freshman Ashley Rheem also placed in the Top 10 with a seventh-place standing at 156-10.

Duby, who topped the 200-foot mark for the first time in his career in winning the hammer at the Florida Relays in March, bettered his career-best mark with throw of 201-2 Friday. Freshman David Ebersole recorded a Top 10 finish with a personal-best 168-9 to take ninth.

Duby, Larson and Davis all reached qualifying marks for the 2005 NCAA Mideast Regional Championships May 28-29 in Bloomington, Ind.

The Buckeyes attempt to open the outdoor home schedule again Friday, April 15 with the All-Ohio Championships. The first home event, the Ohio State Relays, was cancelled April 2 because of snow and high winds.
