COLUMBUS, Ohio – Shelaine Larson, a senior thrower on the Ohio State track and field team, won the women’s discus Saturday at the at the Big Blue Classic at Eastern Illinois University’s O’Brien Stadium in Charleston, Ill. Friday, Larson claimed the hammer crown with career-best throw.

Larson, who won the hammer at a length of 186 feet, 5 inches, added the discus crown with an effort of 149-10 Saturday.

On the men’s side, freshmen Pat Whalen and Lenny Jatsek each competed in the discus and shot put. Whalen turned in Top 10 throws in each event, taking seventh in the shot put with a mark of 51-7 ¾ and 10th in the discus at 149-10. Jatsek placed 10th in the shot at 48-4 ¾ and 12th in the discus at 147-10.

The Buckeyes open the outdoor home schedule again Friday, April 15 with the All-Ohio Championships. The Ohio State Relays were cancelled April 2 because of snow and high winds.
