COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohio State synchronized swimming head coach Linda Witter was selected as the United States assistant coach for the 2003 Pan American Games team. Former Buckeye Becky Jasontek (1994-1997) has been selected as a member of the Pan Am Team, as well as the World Championships team that will compete in Spain beginning Monday. Mary Hofer (1999-2002), also a former Buckeye, joins Jasontek on the World Championships team.

Witter, who has previous national experience as coach of the 1978 Pan American Games team, will help coach a team that consists of four swimmers who have already secured spots on the 2004 Olympic team roster. She has led Ohio State to six national championships and two national runner-up titles in eight years at the helm of the Buckeye program. The Pan American Games will be held August 1-17 in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic.

Jasontek, a four-time letterwinner and All-American at Ohio State, was a member of the 2001 World Championship team and has been selected to the 2004 Olympic team. Jasontek along with eight others will represent the United States under the direction of head coach Chris Carver (Saratoga, Calif.) and assistant coach Witter.

Hofer will join Jasontek on the U.S. National Team that will compete at the FINA World Championships July 13-27 in Barcelona, Spain. Hofer was a member of three Ohio State national championship teams and was a four-time All-American for the Buckeyes. Hofer and Jasontek are two of the 10 members representing the United States at the World Championships. ESPN will have coverage of the World Championships beginning July 13 at 7 p.m. EST.
