COLUMBUS, Ohio – Once again this year, the Ohio State football team and the Department of Athletics are teaming up with WBNS-TV to support the Operation Feed Community Food Drive by donating $1.00 from each ticket sold to the annual Scarlet and Gray game April 23 to the Mid-Ohio FoodBank and United Way of Central Ohio.

The 2005 spring game marks the fifth-consecutive year Ohio State has donated ticket proceeds to the Mid-Ohio FoodBank. Last year the Department of Athletics gave over $45,000 to the Mid-Ohio FoodBank.

Operation Feed’s campaign goal in 2005 is to provide 4,200,000 meals to families seeking emergency food assistance in Central Ohio. The food and dollars raised through Operation Feed provide more than one-third of the food that low-income families and seniors receive on at local food pantries, soup kitchens and shelters in six Ohio counties.

The Department of Athletics encourages fans stop by the WBNS Food Parade on their way to the game and drop off any canned or non-perishable food item at 10TV Studios between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. Saturday, April 23rd to help feed those in need in central Ohio. Keep in mind, one pound of food donated counts as one meal, every dollar donated counts as two meals.
