COLUMBUS, Ohio – %^$The Ohio State softball team posted its first conference win today against the visiting Indiana Hoosiers, 6-3, in the first game of the doubleheader. The Buckeyes would fall in the second game, 5-1, to notch a 17-15 overall record and a 1-2 conference mark. Stacy Roth led the Buckeye contigent going 4-for-4 with four RBI in game one and now holds a career-high and team-high 15-game hitting streak.%^$

%^$The Hoosiers opened the game with a 3-0 lead after scoring off two doubles and a single in the top of the first.%^$

%^$Ohio State rallied in the bottom when Anna Smith led off with a single. She would then post her 21st steal of the season and advance to third on an error by the second baseman. Stacy Roth followed with an RBI-single to rightfield.%^$

%^$Ohio State, down 3-1, came back in the bottom of the sixth to score four runs for the win. Sarah West opened the inning with a double to centerfield. Then Kristine Himes blasted her fourth home run of her career to centerfield. She broke the OSU freshman record for home runs held by teammate Stacy Roth (3). Roth nailed a two-run double to rightfield to give the Buckeyes their first conference win of the season.%^$

%^$Inside the circle, Katie Chain completed the game, giving up three runs off seven hits and fanning six for her eighth win of the season (8-3). Hoosiers’ Teresa Martinez took the loss after only striking out one Buckeye and giving up four runs today.%^$

%^$Game Two%^$

%^$The Hoosiers and the Buckeyes were scoreless in the first three innings of the game until Ohio scored its only run of the game in the top of the fourth. Roth singled to centerfield and advanced to third on a Weigel single. As Elizabeth Kacsanek, who pinch ran for Weigel, caused a run down at second, Roth would sneak home for a 1-0 lead.%^$

%^$But the Hoosiers came back strong in the bottom of the fifth, scoring two runs off an OSU error. Indiana added three more in the six when Sheri Savko blasted a homer over the leftfield wall for the 5-1 win.%^$

%^$Toni Hileman collected the loss, completing the game, giving up three runs off nine hits and striking out one. Alison Cooke posted her first win of the season, giving up one run in a complete game.%^$

%^$Ohio State will begin a five-game road trip beginning the week in Bowling Green, Ohio against the Falcons on Tuesday at 4 p.m. The Buckeyes will then take on Michigan and Michigan State next weekend.
