COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohio State garnered three of nine possible first-place votes and finished one point shy of the top spot in the 2016 Midwestern Intercollegiate Volleyball Association (MIVA) Preseason Poll, voted on by the conference’s nine head coaches. The Buckeyes came in at second with 73 points, a lone tally back from the defending national champion Loyola and the Ramblers’ 74 points (five first-place votes).

Last season’s league champion, Lewis, received the other first-place vote and is predicted to finish third in 2016.

In addition, a 10-member Preseason All-MIVA Team was selected by the coaches. Ohio State’s Miles Johnson and Nicolas Szerszen were chosen for the preseason squad. It marks the second preseason recognition for Szerszen, also named an Off the Block/Springbak, Inc. Preseason All-American earlier this week.
