MADISON, Wis. – The Ohio State women’s hockey team was selected fourth in the WCHA Preseason Coaches Poll as announced by the league on Wednesday. The Buckeyes had 48 points to edge Minnesota State in fifth with 47 points. OSU finished fourth in the standings in the 2004-05 season with a final conference record of 12-15-1 as the team also appeared in the WCHA Tournament’s third-place game. Wisconsin was picked to lead the conference with seven first-place votes and 70 total points. Two-time defending WCHA and NCAA Champion Minnesota was second with one first-place vote and 63 points, followed by Minnesota-Duluth with 59 points.

The Buckeyes open their 2005-06 season with a two-game WCHA series against St. Cloud State Oct. 7-8. The games will be played at 7:00 p.m. Friday and 4:00 p.m. Saturday at the OSU Ice Rink.
