COLUMBUS, Ohio– Buckeyes Drew Eberly and Ross Wilson, members of the Ohio State men’s tennis team, compete in the doubles championship match at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the ITA Midwest Regional Championship in Ann Arbor, Mich. The OSU duo advanced to the final round after they defeated teammates Joey Atas and Chris Klingemann, 8-1, in semifinal action. Eberly and Wilson picked up five wins in the doubles main draw and face the No. 1 seed Illinois’ Ryler DeHeart and G.D. Jones in the title match.

Wilson (Jr., Toledo, Ohio/Toledo St. Francis de Sales) is coming off a doubles championship title Oct. 10 at the ITA All-American Championship in Chattanooga, Tenn. Wilson and partner Scott Green (Jr., North Canton, Ohio/Hoover) became the first OSU doubles team to claim a national tournament title in program history. Green and Wilson registered four Top 25 wins defeated New Mexico’s David Kowalski and Ryan Stotland, 9-7, en route to the title.

In singles competition at the ITA Midwest Regionals, sophomore Buckeye Devin Mullings (Freeport, Bahamas/Ft. Lauderdale Prepatory) advanced to the semifinal round after four straight wins in the singles main draw. Mullings, the No. 13 seed, fell to the No. 2 seed DeHeart, 7-5, 7-5.

Atas (So., Baltimore, Md./Calvert Hall), the No. 11 seed, advanced to the quarterfinal round after three wins. He suffered a 6-2, 6-2 loss to the No. 15 seed Notre Dame’s Stephen Bass.

Last season at the ITA Midwest Regional Championships, former Buckeye and All-American Jeremy Wurtzman claimed the singles crown. Wurtzman the No. 1 seed of the tournament, defeated Michael Calkins, the No. 2 seed, 7-6 (8), 4-6, 6-3, in the final round. With the win, Wurtzman became the first Buckeye in program history to capture the Midwest Regional title.
