COLUMBUS, Ohio–The Ohio State men’s golf team will host a pair of tournaments at the renovated Ohio State Golf Club Scarlet Course in 2007, the first competition for the Buckeyes on the Jack Nicklaus-designed course.

The 2007 Big Ten Men’s Golf Tournament is scheduled for April 27-29, two weeks after the Buckeyes play host to the annual Kepler Intercollegiate April 14-15.

Ohio State opens the fall season in Minnesota at the Gopher Invitational Sept. 16-17. Three additional fall events are scheduled in October. The spring season gets underway Feb. 3 with an Ohio State alumni event in Jupiter, Fla.

Spring tournament competition begins Feb. 10 at the Gator Invitational in Gainesville, Fla.

After the Big Ten tournament, NCAA competition begins at the 2007 Central Regional in Aurora, Ill. Northern Illinois will be the host school for this event.

The 2007 NCAA Championships will be held in Williamsburg, Va., from May 28 to June 2.

Jim Brown, now in his 34th season as head coach of the Buckeyes, said playing a national schedule gives his team the challenge of facing the best teams on the top courses.

“We have put together another great national schedule for the team this year,” Brown said. “The competition will afford us an outstanding opportunity to compete against the best on some outstanding golf courses. We will be taking the team to some of the best golfing parts of this country and look forward to some outstanding competition. In addition, we will host two tournaments in three weeks on the newly renovated Scarlet Course in the spring with our annual Robert Kepler Intercollegiate and then the Big Ten Conference Championships.

“We are thrilled to host this championship and know that the Scarlet will be ready for everyone,” he said.
