COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State State men’s and women’s cross country teams finished third and 11th, respectfully at the 2003 Great Lakes Regional Cross Country Championships Saturday in Terre Haute, Ind. The event was held at the LaVern Gibson Championship Cross Country Course. The men finished the event with 116 total team points, while the women finished with 338 points.

During the men’s 10-kilometer event the Buckeyes placed three runners in the Top 20. Leading the way for the men was senior co-captain Rob Myers (Fairfield, Ohio/Fairfield). Myers placed fifth overall in a time of 30:44.6 to pace the Buckeyes for the second-consecutive week.

On the women’s side, junior Robyn Detty (Indianapolis, Ind./Lawerance North) lead the way for the Buckeyes in the women’s 6-kilometer event. Detty finished in 35th-place as she clocked a time of 21:53.5.

Wisconsin claimed the men’s title with 72 points, edging out Michigan by four points, while Notre Dame claimed the women’s title with 43 points.

In the event the Ohio State men’s and women’s country teams qualify for national competition the Buckeyes will return to action Nov. 24 to compete in the 2003 NCAA Championships in Waterloo, Iowa.
