COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State men’s and women’s cross country teams competed Sunday at the 2006 Big Ten Championship meet in Bloomington, Ind. The men’s team finished seventh with 169 points. The Buckeye women took ninth overall, totaling 252 team points.

Wisconsin, the defending national champion and No. 1 team in the nation, won the men’s league title with 27 points. The women’s end was claimed by Michigan and its 52-point score.

The Ohio State men’s team, which finished second in the league in 2005, was led by junior Alex Bailey, who finished 21st in 25:13 on the 8-kilometer course. Freshman Sara Foster topped the women’s squad with a 38th-place time of 22:16 on a 6K course.

The men’s and women’s teams run next at the 2006 Great Lakes Regional meet Nov. 11 in Bowling Green, Ohio.
