COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State women’s soccer team welcomes Purdue to Columbus at 3 p.m. Sunday at Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium. Sunday will be the “Buckeyes Go Pink” game and a celebration of 100 years of Ohio State in the Big Ten Conference.

OHIO STATE OF LATE
The Buckeyes are coming off an 0-1-1 weekend, falling to No. 8 Penn State, 3-0, Thursday night and playing to a scoreless draw against Wisconsin Sunday afternoon. Ohio State combined to outshoot the Nittany Lions and Badgers, 35-24, over the weekend but were unable to find the back of the net. Goalkeepers Rachel Middleman and Jillian McVicker combined to hold Wisconsin scoreless for the Buckeyes seventh clean sheet of the season.
BUCKEYES IN THE BIG TEN
As a team, Ohio State ranks near the top of the Big Ten in most defensive categories including goals allowed (8, t-3rd), shutouts (7, 3rd) and goals-against average (0.64, 4th).
Individually, Tiffany Cameron leads the Big Ten with six game-winning goals and is fourth with nine goals overall and 19 points. In addition, Jillian McVicker sits third with a 0.45 goals-against average while Rachel Middleman is sixth with a 0.76 goals-against average and tied for sixth with two shutouts.
On a national level, the Buckeyes are 17th with a .583 shutout percentage and 24th in goals-against average. Cameron is tied for first nationally with six game-winners and tied for 17th with nine goals.
SOME MORE NOTES…
– The Buckeyes are 7-0-0 this season when they find the back of the net.
– Tiffany Cameron has scored at least one goal in each victory.
– Cameron or Lauren Granberg have combined to score or have an assist on 13 of the 14 Ohio State goals this season.
– The 22 shots last Thursday against Penn State marked a team season high, but the Buckeyes were unable to find the back of the net in a 3-0 loss. Ohio State hit two crossbars and Penn State goalkeeper Britt Eckerstrom came up with multiple diving saves to keep the Buckeyes off the board.
SCOUTING THE BOILERMAKERS
Purdue enters Sunday’s contest with a 7-4-2 overall record, tied with Ohio State with a 2-2-1 conference record. Jordan Pawlik leads the Boilermakers with seven goals while Alex Hairston has added eight assists. Clara Kridler has posted a 1.13 goals-against average with four shutouts in goal.
Ohio State holds a narrow 10-9-1 lead in the all-time series after suffering a 2-1 loss last season in West Lafayette.
CLIMBING CAREER RANKINGS
With 28 goals and 68 points in her career, Tiffany Cameron sits seventh and tied for sixth, respectively, on both Ohio State all-time lists. In addition, Lauren Granberg has moved into 15th on the career points list with 42.
WHAT DO THE COACHES THINK?
Ohio State was picked to finish third in the Big Ten preseason coaches’ poll, the conference office announced Aug. 14. Seniors Tiffany Cameron and Lauren Granberg and junior Danica Wu were named the Buckeyes’ players to watch.
THE COACHING STAFF
Ohio State is under the direction of 16th-year head coach Lori Walker. She has guided the team to seven NCAA tournament berths (2002-03-04-07-09-10-11) as well as two Big Ten tournament championships (2002 and 2004). Her record at Ohio State is now 177-124-27 and her career record, including two seasons at Kansas, is 190-147-28.
Glen Tourville is in his fifth season as associate head coach while Jason Goodson enters his first season as an assistant coach with the Buckeyes. The 2012 season is the ninth for volunteer coach Spencer Bownas.
Ohio State has received 12 of its 14 goals this season from north of the border. Canadians Tiffany Cameron (9 goals) and Lauren Granberg (3) have led the charge on the goal. Cameron, Granberg and Danica Wu also have combined for seven of the Buckeyes’ 21 assists.
JESSE OWENS MEMORIAL STADIUM
Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium, the sparkling home to the Buckeyes, has provided quite the home-field advantage for the women’s soccer team. Some stats about the facility:
– The home team is 96-38-12 all-time.
– Ohio State is 77-21-10 since 2003 and 52-16-6 since 2006.
– The Buckeyes went 9-2-0 at home in 2009; 9-2-2 in 2010; 7-4 in 2011.
Ohio State travels to Iowa Oct. 12 and Nebraska Oct. 14.
