COLUMBUS, Ohio – Opening the Big Ten Championships with a score of 304 to sit in a tie for fourth, the Ohio State women’s golf team was 8-over in round two before play was halted due to a severe storm in the area. The remainder of the second round and the third round will take place tomorrow at the par 72, 6,303-yard Lake Shore Country Club in Chicago, Ill.
Sitting atop the leaderboard is Wisconsin and Michigan State who are tied for first. The Badgers opened with a round of 303 and were 5-over before play was called, while the Spartans notched scores of 306 and 290.
Leading the Buckeyes is sophomore co-captain Rachel Rohanna, who is in fourth place. The Waynesburg, Pa., native tallied back-to-back scores of 73 to break into the Top 5. Throughout the day Rohanna carded four birdies.
After a morning round of 76, senior co-captain In Hong Lim, of Melbourne, Australia, was 2-over through 17 holes in round two to place her in a tie for 12th.
Vicky Villanueva, who carded a round one score of 77, shaved a stroke in the afternoon for a second round of 76 that included three birdies to sit in a tie for 20th.
Finding a score of 78 in round one, sophomore Susana Benavides was 4-over after playing 17 holes in the afternoon. The Cochabamba, Bolivia, product is tied for 27th.
Notching first round marks of 81, sophomore Amy Meier is tied for 31st, while junior Nara Shin is tied for 37th. Meier fired a second round of 74, while Shin was 3-over through 16 holes.
The second round is set to wrap at 9 a.m. (CT) with round three tee times beginning at 11:30 a.m.
