COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State men’s hockey team dropped a 5-1 decision to Western Michigan Saturday night before 7,773 spectators at Value City Arena. The Buckeyes fall to 2-3-0 overall and 1-3-0 in the CCHA, while the Broncos up their record to 2-1-1 overall and in CCHA play.

Eric Meloche (Sr., Rosemere, Que.) tallied the lone OSU goal off an assist from Jean-Francois Dufour (Jr., Bedford, Que.) and Ryan Jestadt (Sr., Western Springs, Ill.) in the third period. Peter Wishloff (Fr., Oakville, Ont.), in his first start in goal for Ohio State, notched 23 saves for the Buckeyes.

Five different Broncos scored goals for the Broncos, who jumped out to a 5-0 lead in the third period en route to the victory. Jeff Reynaert stopped 28 of 29 shots in goal for Western Michigan.

Ohio State has now scored at least one power-play goal in each of its five games.

The Buckeyes return to action Friday, stopping in East Lansing, Mich., for a two-game series with the Michigan State Spartans.
