COLUMBUS, Ohio – Forty-three Ohio State fall student-athletes were named to the Big Ten Academic All-Conference Team for the fall, the league today announced. To be eligible for Academic All-Big Ten selection, a student-athlete must be a letterwinner in at least their second academic year at their institution and carry a career grade-point average (GPA) of 3.0 or better. In all, 510 conference student-athletes were honored.

Indiana ranked first in the conference with 66 honorees. Penn State was second with 64 followed by Northwestern with 54.

The Buckeye football and women’s soccer teams led Ohio State with nine academic honorees each. Men’s soccer had eight team members while women’s cross country had six and men’s cross country had five.

Ohio State cross country runner Sjaan Gerth (So., Bellgrave, Ontario, Canada), a biochemistry major, was the lone Buckeye to earn a perfect 4.0 GPA. Cross country teammate Jonathon White (Jr., Sylvania, Ohio) earned a 3.98 GPA in the field of mechanical engineering.
