VERONA, Wis. – The Ohio State women’s golf team suffered a narrow 3-2 loss to Iowa State in the semifinals of the championship bracket of the East & West Match Play Challenge Monday at University Ridge Golf Course in Verona, Wis.
Jaclyn Lee, who finished in a tie for first in the 36-hole stroke play qualifying portion of the event Sunday, topped Alanna Campbell, 2&1, after sitting two down on the 11th tee. Alex Wright, who posted the Buckeyes’ second-best qualifying score after a second-round career-best 69, defeated Amelia Mehmet Grohn, 3&1, after also standing on the 11th tee down one.
Niki Schroeder battled back against Chayanit Wangmahaporn to cut the deficit to one heading to the Par-3 17th but the junior dropped a shot as Wangmahaporn was able to make par and secure the 2&1 victory.
Individually, the Buckeyes’ Sofia Seldemirova topped Nebraska’s Hannah Thiele in 18 holes for a one-up win.
