Columbus, Ohio – The Ohio State women’s tennis team earned its second consecutive victory, beating Nebraska, 6-1, Friday at the Jesse Owens West Recreation Center. The Buckeyes (2-2, 1-0 Big Ten) swept all three doubles matches and won at every singles position except No. 2 over the Cornhuskers (6-2, 0-1 Big 12).

In singles, Lindsay Williams (Sr., Beverly Hills, Mich./Birmingham Groves) earned her second Top 20 win of the season, topping No. 19 ranked Gitte Ostermann, 6-0, 6-3, in the No. 1 position. Erica Fisk (Sr., Indianapolis, Ind./Pike) defeated Leslie Harvey in straight sets, 6-1, 6-2, at the No. 3 spot, while in the No. 4 position Lindsey Adams (Jr., Mercer Island, Wash./Mercer Island) earned the match-clinching victory, 6-0, 6-4, over Rose Ketmayura. At No. 5 Emily DeCamilla (Jr., Sacramento, Calif./Maryland) won her second-consecutive match, a straight set victory over Anna Oehme. Freshman Kristin Messmer (Lutherville, Md./ McDonogh) wrapped up the match with her fourth-consecutive win, beating Pamela Castillejos in the No. 6 spot.

The No. 48-ranked Buckeyes began the day by dominating doubles competition. Jackie Leskovar (Sr., Cambridge, Ontario/N.C. State) and Fisk remained undefeated at home by beating Leslie Harvey and Rose Ketmayura at No. 1 while the duo of Meaghan Colville (Toronto, Ontario/Western Michigan) and Williams topped Gitte Ostermann and Katie Garcia at No. 2. Adams and Meredith Vincent (Jr., Cincinnati, Ohio/Virginia Tech) completed the doubles sweep with an 8-5 victory over Milena Schulz-Gartner and Anna Oehme.

Following the Buckeyes’ loss to the Cornhuskers in Lincoln, 4-3, last season, head coach Chuck Merzbacher said he thought his team had been waiting for this match.

“We came out fired up and I think it showed,” Merzbacher said. “It was a good step forward for us.”

The Buckeyes return to action at 10 a.m. and 5 p.m., against Yale and Cleveland State, respectively, Feb. 22., at the Jesse Owens West Recreation Center.
