Senior Tommy Seay won the 100-yard freestyle for the sixth meet in a row to help lead Ohio State to a 156.5-80.5 victory over Wright State Friday in the first ever meeting between the two schools. Seay, who is from Buffalo, N.Y. (McKinley), won the 100 freestyle in a time of 46.34 seconds to go along with a win in the 200-yard individual medley. He clocked 1:53.13 in the medley.

The Buckeyes opened the competition with a win in the 400-yard medley relay with a time of 3:24.39. Buckeye Marty Tomes (Jr., Cincinnati, Ohio/Anderson) also was a double-event winner, taking the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 1:42.73 and the 200-yard butterfly, where he out-reached the Raider swimmer by three-tenths of a second.

Other event winners in the meet included Joe Doyle (So., Centerburg, Ohio/Centerburg) in the 50-yard freestyle, Nate King (So., Youngstown, Ohio/Warren Harding) in the 200-yard backstroke and Rob Kauscher (Sr., Cincinnati, Ohio/Anderson) in the 200-yard breaststroke with a lifetime best time of 2:02.62. The Buckeyes capped off the night with a win in the 400-yard freestyle relay, touching the wall in 3:04.59.

In the diving well, the Buckeye squad was uncontested. Nick Hanneman (Jr., Upper Arlington, Ohio/Upper Arlington) won the 1-meter event with 253.58 points, finishing ahead of Mitch Richeson (Sr., Greenwood, Ind./Greenwood), who finished second and Marc Dreyer (Jr., Port Elisabeth, South Africa/Grey), who placed third. In the 3-meter event, Richeson placed first, scoring 251.25 points. Dreyer was second with 244.04 points and Hanneman, who had 233.24 points, was third. “I’m happy with how the meet went,” Bill Wadley, Ohio State head coach, said. “It was our first meet back after break, and we were rusty for sure, but it was an awesome meet. There were great efforts by everyone, and I’m very proud of all of my swimmers. It is a great start after break. We still have a way to go and some details to work out, but those will come. Rob Kauscher had the best race of the night with his lifetime best in the 200-yard breaststroke. We had been practicing some new stuff in practice and he shaved about three seconds off of his best time. It was the `wow’ of the day.”

The Buckeyes play host to Indiana Saturday at 1 p.m. at the Mike Peppe Aquatic Center. It is the first Big Ten meet of the season for Ohio State.
