Columbus, Ohio – The Ohio State women’s tennis team finished play at the ITA Midwest Regional Championships Saturday with tough losses. The doubles tandem of Sonia Ruzimovsky and Kristin Messmer were eliminated in the round of 16 and six Buckeyes lost first-round matches in the tournament at the Baseline Tennis Center in Minneapolis, Min.

In the 64-team doubles draw, No. 16-ranked Lindsay Martin and Katie McGaffigan of Wisconsin ended the run of Ruzimovsky (Soph., Brooklyn, N.Y./Brooklyn Tech) and Messmer (Soph., Lutherville, Md./McDonogh) with a 9-7 win.

In the 64-player singles main draw, six Buckeyes were beaten, including Lindsey Adams (Sr., Mercer Island, Wash./Mercer Island), who fell to No. 1-ranked Christelle Grier of Northwestern, and Ruzimovsky, who was beaten by No. 88-ranked Victoria Domina of Eastern Michigan, 6-1, 6-0.

Doubles and singles competition continues Sunday at the ITA Midwest Regional in Minneapolis, Min. The Buckeyes return to action Nov. 3 for the Milwaukee Tennis Classic in Milwaukee, Wisc.
