FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The No. 15 Ohio State men’s soccer team played 19th-ranked Denver to 1-1 draw Sunday in exhibition play at the ShindigZ National Soccer Festival in Fort Wayne, Ind. The Buckeyes end the preseason slate 0-0-2 after an identical result vs. Wright State earlier this week.

Chris Hegngi posted the lone Buckeye score, finishing off a penalty kick in the first half and the Buckeyes retained the lead until late in regulation when Kellan Christensen found the back of the net for the Pioneers.

Fourteen college teams, including five from the Big Ten, and 28 high school squads competed this weekend at the annual National Soccer Festival.

The Buckeyes open the 2011 season at the Penn State Classic Saturday vs. American at 4:30 p.m., followed by a 3:30 p.m. Monday match-up against Siena. Their home slate commences Sept. 2 with the Bert & Iris Wolstein Classic and a 7:30 p.m. match with FIU and a 1:30 p.m. game vs. Stetson Sunday. Admission to all tournament games, and all home regular-season games throughout the season, is free.
