Quotes

Cincinnati head coach Reed Sunahara ” I’m proud of the way we played. If you look back and saw where we were in September, I don’t think anyone expected us to be this good. (Our team) worked our tails off day in and day out. We tried our best. We got beat by a good team.”

“We’re not as experienced as Ohio State. They’ve been there before. That had a lot to do with it. The second game we came out strong and that built our confidence.”

“We made some good adjustments. We didn’t adjust in the first game and they just did want they wanted. In the second game our offense was better and our defense was better. It was probably the best we played all year.”

“They came to our place and took it to us. We didn’t have a set lineup at that time. Now we have a lot more experience with our younger players as well as our older players. We showed we can hang in there with anyone.”

Trish Ladusaw “The first game, obviously, we knew to expect, I guess it was just nerves. We knew we were not just going to give them the match easy. They’re a great team and we played as good as we could.”

Rachel Baren “I think we came a long way. We are a young team. We had as many as three freshmen playing at once. I couldn’t ask for anything better. We came in here with a great attitude and we fought the best we could.”

OSU head coach Jim Stone “I’m really proud of our team. We played really hard tonight. I don’t think we necessarily played as well as were capable of, but we played hard. As a coach, that’s all I can ask for.”

“Kudos to Cincinnati. They came in and played their hearts out. They played really good defense. They had us well scouted. They did some things to our attack that I was impressed with. It was a good job of coaching on their part. I thought our team started off playing great the first game. We had a little bit of a letdown. Cincinnati played extremely competitive out there. We had to fight the last two games. I’m really proud of our effort. We’re happy to move on.”

“It was real important. We talked between games two and three about the importance of playing from behind. During game two I thought way too many self-imposed errors. Cincinnati is too good of a team to help them that much. I thought we did a lot better the last two games in terms of serving the ball in bounds.”

Suzie Stiling “It was there last game. We knew they were a good team and they were gong to go all out. It was important for us to establish our own play and not let them dictate the momentum of the game. We played from in front, which is easier to d o. We capitalized on that well tonight.”

Stacey Gordon “I knew immediately that they were going to come at us strong. We had some good digs and they had some good digs. Our defense was really strong. We had to concentrate on passing the ball so we could run a good offense.”

“In game two there were some communication breakdowns. In the last two games we picked it up a little more.”
