Ohio State women’s basketball player Ashley Allen suffered an anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) tear in her left knee during the first half of play at Illinois Feb. 19. The sophomore guard from Indianapolis, Ind., is projected to miss the remainder of the season.

Allen had started in all 25 games for first-year head coach Jim Foster and was averaging 8.5 points, 3.2 rebounds and 3.6 assists per outing. She also was ranked second in Big Ten conference games with a 1.59 assist-to-turnover ratio. Allen had accumulated 91 assists this season compared to her rookie campaign, when she distributed 53 assists in 29 contests.

The Buckeyes finish the regular-season portion of their schedule by playing host to No. 10/11 Purdue at 1 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 23, in Value City Arena and taking on Michigan at 7 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 27, in St. John Arena.
