COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State Department of Athletics announced its 2005-06 women’s ice hockey schedule Thursday. OSU drops the puck with a home series vs. Western Collegiate Hockey Association foe St. Cloud State Oct. 7-8 at the OSU Ice Rink.

OSU will play each of the seven teams in the WCHA four times during the season, with a two-game home and road series vs. each league foe. Ohio State finished fourth in the WCHA last year with a 12-15-1 record and was 17-17-3 overall. Three WCHA teams advanced to the NCAA regionals in 2005. Minnesota claimed the national title. The Buckeyes face off against the defending national champions Nov. 4-5 in Minneapolis.

In non-conference action, Ohio State will face teams from the Hockey East, Ivy League and College Hockey America conferences. OSU will makes its third trek to Boston to face Hockey East opponent Northeastern Oct. 14-15. The Buckeyes will play host to Princeton Nov. 11-12, marking the second meeting between the teams on the OSU campus. The Niagara Purple Eagles round out OSU’s non-conference schedule Jan. 13-14 in Columbus, Ohio.

Postseason action begins with the seventh annual WCHA championships March 2-5 at Ridder Arena in Minneapolis, Minn. The University of Minnesota also will play host to the 2006 NCAA Championships March 24 and 26 at Ridder Arena.

Buckeye head coach Jackie Barto will guide the squad into its seventh season. Barto is 89-112-19 overall at Ohio State and 55-77-15 in the WCHA.
