COLUMBUS, Ohio – The No. 8 Ohio State men’s tennis team beat Michigan State 6-1 in East Lansing, Mich., Saturday to improve to 19-1 on the year and 7-0 in Big Ten play. OSU has won seven-consecutive Big Ten regular season matches and 13 of the last 14.

Ohio State has now won the last seven meetings between the two schools. Michigan State has not beaten the Buckeyes since the 1998-99 season. Michigan State is now 7-15 overall and 1-7 in the Big Ten.

Ohio State’s No. 49 Bryan Koniecko (Fr. Long Island, N.Y./Syosset) won his match at the No. 2 singles spot. He beat Adam Monich 6-2, 6-1 to improve his record on the season to 18-11. The Buckeyes’ Devin Mullings (Jr. Freeport, Bahamas/Ft. Lauderdale Prepatory), the reigning Big Ten Co-Player of the Week, beat John Allare at the No. 3 singles spot to claim his singles 21st win of the season. OSU also claimed victories at the Nos. 4, 5 and 6 singles spots.

In what has been a staple for the Buckeyes this season, OSU earned the doubles point after winning all three sets. Ohio State seniors Ross Wilson (Toledo, Ohio/Toledo St. Francis de Sales) and Scott Green (North Canton, Ohio/Hoover), the nation’s No. 2-ranked doubles team, defeated Adam Monich and Nick Rinks 8-7 (2) at the No. 1 doubles spot for the pair’s 24th doubles win of the year. Green and Wilson have a season record of 24-2 and 18-1 in dual play. Mullings and Chris Klingemann (Jr., Bradenton, Fla./Texas Tech Independent) won their match against Mike Brown and Scott Rasmussen 8-3 at the No. 3 doubles spot. Bryan Koniecko and Drew Eberly (So., Lake Forest, Ill./Lake Forest) combined to beat John Allare and Michael Flowers 8-4 at the No. 2 doubles spot to round off the sweep. Ohio State has won the doubles point in each of its 20 dual matches this season.

Up next, the Buckeyes travel to Ann Arbor, Mich., Sunday to take on the No. 36 Michigan Wolverines. OSU’s next home match is against Northwestern April 22.
