%^$COLUMBUS, Ohio- Members of the No. 7 Ohio State wrestling team enjoyed success in the opening session of the Midlands tournament in Evanston, Ill., Saturday with nine Buckeyes remaining in contention to win their respective weight classes. OSU also sits No. 2 in the early team race after collecting 37.5 points. Iowa State leads the tournament with 38.5 points.%^$

%^$Nick Preston (Sr., Columbus, Ohio/DeSales) reached a milestone in his first match of the event when he recorded the 100th win of his collegiate wrestling career with an 8-4 decision over Stipe Miocic of Cleveland State. Preston also defeated Emmett Willson of Montana State Northern, 3-1, to advance to the quarterfinals of the 197-pound weight class where he is the No. 5 seed.%^$

%^$Current assistant coach and former Buckeye wrestler Mitch Clark also is into the quarterfinals of the heavyweight division . He is one win away from joining the ’20 in 4′ club which honors and recognizes wrestlers who have won 20 or more matches in their first four years of competition in the event. Clark entered the weekend at 17-3 in the event and improved to 19-3 after the first session with a 4-3 decision over Michigan State’s Mike Keenan and a pinfall over Jason Ott of Wisconsin-LaCrosse at 1:29.%^$

%^$Session Two is slated to begin at 7 p.m. CST at Welsh-Ryan Arena on the campus of Northwestern University. All wrestlers will by fighting to advance to the third session which is Sunday at noon.%^$
