COLUMBUS, Ohio – The No. 7-ranked Ohio State men’s hockey team has clinched a Top 6 spot in the final Central Collegiate Hockey Association standings and will play host to a first-round series in the league playoffs. The best-of-three series will be held at 7:05 p.m. March 11-13 in Value City Arena in Columbus.
The winner of the first-round series advances to the CCHA Super Six Championship at Joe Louis Arena in Detroit, Mich., March 17-19. The Buckeyes’ seed in the tournament and opponent has not yet been determined. In the tournament, the Top 6 seeds play host to the bottom six (1 vs. 12, 2 vs. 11, 3 vs. 10, 4 vs. 9, 5 vs. 8, 6 vs. 7).
Tickets for games one and two of the playoff series are available for purchase now by calling 1-800-GO BUCKS or online at hangonsloopy.com. Prices are $10 for adults and $5 for students. In addition, packs of four tickets are available for $20. If a third game is needed, tickets will go on sale March 13.
At the March 11 game, free Ohio State hockey t-shirts will be handed out to the first 1,000 fans. The March 12 game will feature a Johnsonville Buck a Sausage Night, with sausages available for $1 (while supplies last).
Ohio State (20-7-3, 17-4-1 CCHA), which stands in second place in the CCHA one point behind first-place Michigan, has six games remaining on its regular-season schedule. The team plays host to Bowling Green at 7:05 p.m. Friday and Saturday in Value City Arena before a road trip to Michigan State Feb. 18-19. Following a week off, the Buckeyes close out regular-season action against Miami, with a game in Oxford, Ohio, March 4 and a matchup in Columbus, Ohio, March 5.
