HAMDEN, Conn. — The Ohio State University women’s ice hockey team leaned on some old hands as it downed the Quinnipiac University Bobcats 3-2 on Friday night at the Frank Perrotti Arena.

Coach Muzerall’s Post Game Interview
Neither team could find the back of the net in the first despite two good looks for Tatum Skaggs. OSU tallied four shots-on-goal in the opening frame, two for Skaggs and one each for Dunne and Schepers.
The Buckeyes got in a rhythm early in the second after drawing a power play in the first minute. Just as the power play expired Maltais fired the puck into the back of the net for the first Ohio State goal of the season. Dunne picked up where she left off last season with an assist on the goal. Zeglen made nine of her 18 saves in the second, including one flurry where she faced she shots in the span on eight seconds. OSU put nine SOG in the second with Maltais accounting for two of them. Dunne, Skaggs, Schepers, Field, Eve Savander, and Gabby Rosenthal all notched one shot each in the period.
Quinnipiac scored early in the third to tie the game at 1-1, but Schepers broke the tie near the midway point as she slid the puck into the net while she careened toward it herself, eventually knocking it off its holders. With less than five minutes to play Field took a pass from Maltais and buried the puck in the back of the net, putting the Buckeyes in front for good. A Bobcats goal with less than 90 seconds to play gave the Bucks a late scare, but Zeglen stood tall in the closing moments to secure the 3-2 win.
Ohio State hits the ice tomorrow looking for a sweep of Quinnipiac. Puck drop between the Buckeyes and Bobcats is set for 2 p.m. at the Frank Perrotti Arena.
