COLUMBUS, Ohio – The No. 59 ranked Ohio State womens tennis team began its 1999 dual action season today in trouncing Illinois State 8-1 at the Jesse Owens West Recreation Center. The No. 7 ranked doubles team Briana Harris (So., Bradenton, Fla.) and Kristy Dascoli (So., Bradenton, Fla.) dominated the team of Naoka Moore and Zana Friganovic in a 8-0 shutout at the No. 1 doubles spot. Monica Rincon (Fr., Lapeer, Mich.) and Laura Maloney (Jr., Barrington, Ill.) also added a 8-0 victory at the No. 3 spot over Ilinois States Larissa Fostiak and Brigette Zarazee.

In singles, Ohio State shutout the Redbirds in all six matches to win the game. Dascoli defeated Naoka Moore (6-2, 6-0) and Harris took Zan Frigaonvic to a tie-breaker in the second set to win the game 6-4, 7-6. Freshmen Michelle Matko (Aurora, Ill.), Rincon and Claudia Castro (Onalaska, Wis.) all gained their first collegiate win at the No. 3, No.4 and No. 6 spot.

Ohio State battle Akron today at 2 p.m. to finish its doubleheader Saturday.
